About the Ranch
At the Vitt Ranch, the goal is to develop several good ranch horses for sale each year. Almost all are registered Quarter Horses — Kris is a lifetime member of the AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association). A cattle preconditioning and backgrounding operation that Kris runs on the ranch is a great environment to train good versatile ranch horses.
There’s always a variety of horses on the Vitt Ranch. Kris tries to have several strong ranch horses finishing and ready for sale in the spring and several more in the fall. So there are always horses at various stages of training. Then there’s always a mix of other horses that come and go, including horses he’s working for someone else, a few brood mares, and stallions. The horses he starts and trains are primarily Quarter Horses aimed at ranch work — strong horses with quiet dispositions, good conformation, and good cow sense.
